Adorama Pro and Canon Present the “Summertime in NYC” Photo Contest

Commemorate the summer with the best shots of the city; contest winners to be announced at a special Pro Day event on October 3rd

New York, NY – August 26, 2013 – Adorama (http://www.adorama.com/), the leading supplier of pro video, photographic and consumer electronics products, joins Canon for the“Summertime in NYC” photo contest. The competition will feature two categories: cityscapes and portraits highlighting New York City in the summer. Contestants can submit their digital images in store on either September 9th (11am – 7pm) or 15th (11am – 4pm) to receive a free 8 x10 Canon print on the spot; participants can also submit images via email (send to adoramapro@adorama.com or visit http://bit.ly/SummertimeInNYC). All photo submissions for the “Summertime in NYC” contest must be taken with a Canon camera and submitted by midnight (EDT) on September 15th in order to be considered. Winners Announced at Special Pro Day Event on October 3rd
The winners of the “Summertime in NYC” photo contest will be announced at a special Pro Day event hosted at 55 West 17th Street by Adorama Pro and Canon on Thursday, October 3rd. The overall best in show winner will win a Canon EOS 5D Mark III (http://www.adorama.com/ICA5DM3.html), while two winners, one from each category, will receive a new Canon EOS 70D kit (http://www.adorama.com/ICA70DK.html), which includes the EF-S 18-55mm lens. Additional prizes include six $50 Adorama gift cards, awarded to the top three runners-up from each category. The winning photographs will be in the spotlight at the October event as 24” x 36” mounted prints on display for all to see. Grand prize winners should be present to win.

The event will feature a special lecture from Bruce Dorn (more info), one of Canon’s Explorers of Light and an award-winning photographer. A tradeshow-like event, top manufacturers in the business will have products on display to give attendees a hands-on look at some of the hottest items available. There will be a Canon DSLR table with accessories and gadgets to control a camera, a wireless flash station where attendees will have the chance to try out popular speedlight accessories, a Canon Powershot table, a studio demo area with video lighting set up, and so much more.

Adorama Pro and Canon will also be raffling off additional cameras and prizes, giving all attendees the chance to walk away as a winner.

About Bruce Dorn
Bruce’s early career with the camera took him around the globe shooting photo-journalistic and editorial assignments for United Press International, People, Conde Nast Publishing, Money, and Business Week magazines. Subsequent work in the advertising industry collected Bruce all the major industry awards. In the motion picture industry, Dorn is known for his expertise in state-of-the-art visual effects and beautiful cinematography. An active member of the Directors Guild of America since 1984, Bruce has earned Gold from the Mobius Awards, the New York Film and Video Festivals, the Clio Awards and a Bronze Lion from the Cannes Commercial Film Festival.

As a digital mixed-media artist, Bruce has been a recipient of the Kodak Professional Innovators Award and Corel Corporation has awarded him with the rank of Painter® Master. Bruce’s photographic explorations of the New West were rewarded with an Artist in Residence exhibition during the Ansel Adams Retrospective at The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. In Ballistic Publishing’s book, ‘Painter: World’s Best Painter Art’, Bruce’s neo-classical ballet imagery earned the Gold for Best Portrait.

All photo submissions must be taken with a Canon camera. Original digital images must be submitted on SD or CF cards, USB thumb drive, or email: adoramapro@adorama.com. Files should be full resolution, highest quality jpegs with metadata intact. File size should not exceed 10mb. One entry per category, per person. Participants may copyright images. Photographer is responsible for any releases necessary. Once a photograph is submitted, Adorama will retain the non-exclusive right to use the photograph, up to six months, for any promotional purposes regarding photo contests including Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media outlets and/or any of the Adorama website landing pages or portals. Three grand prizes plus runner-up prizes include $50 Adorama Gift Cards. Grand prize winners should be present to win.
