It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

There are 4 of older ones (based on an earlier version of MAResourcesMapping.plist) with which you may (or may not) get occasional flashes in case you have the bright option with piano roll on; then just uncheck the option in LPX preferences to turn it off. I have marked these zips with orange tag. Others are marked with green.

Movies are riddled with sound effects, but some have transcended their cinematic boundaries to become a popular cultural staple, a sound effect that is recognizable on its own and often used and parodied in others' works. Lightsabers are one such sound effect, the making of which Dolby detailed yesterday in a blog post, along with seven other notable sounds.

From Marlon Brando’s civil rights statement in absentia to Michael Moore’s anti-war speech, the Academy Awards ceremony played host to its share of high-profile protests. This year, though, the biggest protest will likely happen outside the Dolby Theater.

Restructuring efforts at Avid maker Pro Tools seem to have accelerated losses, not slowed them. Financial site The Street reports today on the state of the company’s stock. Most troubling, yesterday Avid received a letter from NASDAQ delisting the company from the stock exchange. As of today, trading of AVID was halted on NASDAQ. (This doesn’t mean you can’t still trade AVID stock; you have to do it via the Over-the-Counter market.)

HEVC is the most interesting and cutting-edge topic in the world of digital video compression right now. Around 20 years ago video compression was something of a novelty; today it is ubiquitous. From TVs to cell phones and camcorders to PCs, most consumer electronic devices rely on video compression.
