To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Adobe offering CS2 for free, but didn't mean to

January 11, 2013, 08:05 PM

http://www.techspot.com/news/51316-adobe-offering-...

Earlier this week Adobe made a surprise move by putting its Creative Suite 2 software, as well as individual programs like Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2, up for download on its website along the corresponding serial numbers. Initially it was believed the company got tired of keeping the activation servers running to support legitimate installs of ~8 year-old software and decided to give it away. But that's only partly true.

LAS VEGAS - Here at the CES show, there was no shortage of dazzling monitors and displays, but as a cord-cutter who consumes a vast inventory of media on my computer and tablet devices, I wonder who is purchasing these screens? Last year China saw a 25 percent increase in sales of 3D-TVs that require glasses, currently making them the largest market for 3D in the world.

Mike On Conan and the woes of shooting 16mm film..

Today, we can take for granted how easy it is with DSLR’s to get this same look and outcome, but at the time what we were doing was pushing the poor college student budget and borders - especially by including a freaking Steadicam!!!

I’m Leaving the StudioDaily Blog

It’s with a hint of sadness that I write this, my last regular blog post here on Studio Daily. I’m leaving the regular StudioDaily blogging behind as I’m going to focus that time back over at my own creation, the original Editblog.
