To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

The editor of a film or television show shapes the very core and fabric of the program in so many ways. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in documentary filmmaking.

http://www.doddlenews.com/news-room/red-ipp2-workf...

In this article, I’m going to get in and scratch the surface of RED’s new IPP2 workflow. The first thing that’s important to understand, especially if you’re new to RED’s cameras, is what exactly does IPP stand for? IPP is RED’s Image Processing Pipeline, which will help guide you and your image from when it hits the sensor, to when you see the final product on screen. What RED is doing with the move to IPP2 is to separate the technical process from the creative process, as well as i...

As revisions have heated up in the last weeks, with versions 8 and 9 coming fast on the heels of each other, it was likely that the stable release would happen soon, especially with IBC coming up, and now here we are.

5 Editing 'Mistakes' to Avoid on Your Next Music V

September 6, 2017, 03:57 AM

http://nofilmschool.com/2017/09/5-music-video-edit...

Music videos are a lot of fun to make. You can get as creative as you want, try new and exciting cinematic techniques, and experiment with the way you tell stories. However, plenty of filmmakers have gone a little too far (or not far enough) with the added liberty and latitude and taken their projects into unfortunate territories, but editor Justin Odisho has put together a list of five of the most common "mistakes" found in music videos in hopes that you might be able to avoid them (or fix them...
