To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

STORAGE SHOOTOUT

December 24, 2012, 01:43 PM

http://www.barefeats.com/imac12d1.html

We have answers to the question, "What drive should I order for my 'late 2012' iMac 27-inch?" Since the 27-inch uses 3.5-inch HDDs, the drive choices and drive performance will be different from the 21.5-inch iMac which uses 2.5-inch HDDs. With the help of remote mad scientists, we were able to get test results on four of the five permutations available to 27-inch iMac buyers.

Event ManagerX eases the pain of editing

December 23, 2012, 04:17 PM

http://www.danmccomb.com/posts/2443/event-manager-...

My partner Lisa and I have just emerged from a marathon two weeks of editing our feature-length documentary, Beyond Naked. Too much of that time, I am pained to say, was spend loading and unloading events and projects. Final Cut Pro X has issues after more than dozen or so large events are loaded (our film drew on 2.5 terabytes of proxy media alone, so loading the entire film at once was completely out of the question).

LaCie P'9223 Slim SSD Review

December 23, 2012, 04:14 PM

http://www.storagereview.com/lacie_p_9223_slim_ssd...

LaCie and beautiful design intuitively go together, thanks to years of LaCie regularly pumping out great looking storage devices. The LaCie P'9223 Slim SSD drive is no different, sporting a classic aluminum body and support for USB 3.0. The appearance and build of the P'9223 rightfully deserves the Porsche label, as it has both the elegance and performance of the famous Porsche sports cars.
