To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Great job here by Roberto Blake. He doesn’t just put together a smoking fast DIY NLE Workstation for 4K editing, he goes into detail on why he picked the components he did.  He used a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H motherboard. As our readers and customers know, we’re partial to ASUS motherboards for our DIY machines, but this Read More The post Awesome DIY NLE Workstation: Building a 4K Video Editing PC for Under $1,500 appeared first on Videoguys Blog.

Thanks to two colleagues, I have become aware of inexpensive wireless audio mixer offerings from Behringer/Midas & Mackie. Alex Lindsay told me about the former, and Melvin Rivera Velázquez the latter. Both offerings eliminate nearly all onboard controls in favor of controlling remotely from an Android or iOS device, and one also allows controlling from The post Comparing wireless audio mixer’s specs: Behringer/Midas & Mackie appeared first on ProVideo Coalition.

How I Became a Curmudgeon at 25 Years Old

I am a professional film editor (Empire, Glee, Burn Notice), and I have lived in the trenches for fifteen years. I’ve cut episodic television, studio features, indies, theatrical trailers, EPK’s, documentaries, you name it. I’ve had a lot of different experiences…all of them the same working environments: Long hours, no days off, sitting in one position, mostly sedentary, in a dark room. For years. And it almost destroyed me.

WWDC - What we'd like to see in OS X 10.12

June 11, 2016, 05:12 AM

http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/wwdc_wh...

WWDC is right around the corner and Apple will most likely be unveiling a new version of OS X. Here's what we'd like to see.  HEVC / H.265 support H.265 (also known as HEVC), promises to halve the bitrate of its predecessor, H.264. This means that you can deliver the same video at half the bandwidth, or alternatively double the quality within the same bandwidth. This could greatly increase the popularity of 4K video on the web.  The problem so far has been a legal one - instead of h...
