Senior technology and media executive Allan Schollnick has been appointed to lead the growth of the latest innovation for the TV and film post-production industry, VoiceQ 2.0 software, in North America.

Allan Schollnick is a Los Angeles based executive with extensive management experience in film and video postproduction, distribution and technical services. He has held key management positions at leading media companies including DreamWorks, Turner Entertainment Distribution Services, Walt Disney Company and THX Ltd.  He was the Hollywood Section Chair for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and is the Annual Conference Sponsorship Chair.

Kiwa Digital Ltd, the New Zealand based developers of VoiceQ software, said the company sought out a representative with a unique blend of technical capability and innovation.

“As the industry evolves and embraces change, real world knowledge and experience is vital.  Allan’s extensive experience in the industry, working with some of the world’s most innovative media companies, make him the ideal appointment”  said Steven Renata, Global Business Development Director of Kiwa Digital.

â€œAllan will be responsible for growth and expansion strategies in North America and international partnerships.”

VoiceQ 2.0 voice synchronisation software speeds up the dialogue creation and replacement process in the postproduction stage of film and television production.

This modern update on the rythmo band process used in France since the 1920’s, retains the basic method of presenting dialogue to the actor, while greatly easing costs and preparation time.  Superimposed over the video, the software scrolls the script across the screen and the actor/voice-over artist reads the words when they hit the target line. Scrolling text over video offers actors and technicians a frame-accurate cue for every word, every line, every time, ensuring the artist is always in sync with the lip movements of the actor on screen, which ultimately enhances performance levels and reduces recording time.

The software has been described by industry commentator Patrick Jong Taylor as “breathing new life into an old process from the early days of sound …  pulling the rythmo band into the digital age.”

Allan Schollnick begins his new role as VP North America Business Development September 14; and in October will showcase VoiceQ 2.0 at the SMPTE Technical Conference in Hollywood and the AES Convention in New York, where the company will be a partner in the Avid Pavilion.
