To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Well unless you use FCP and live under a rock, you know that FCP X was announced yesterday evening at the Supermeet at NAB. I culled through lots of the posts and comments and I must say it looks quite interesting. Here is a quick shot and a overview of the features:

Larry Jordan posted today an interesting entry on his blog on the new Final Cut Pro X. Just to remind you Larry is a producer, director, editor, consultant and Apple-Certified trainer with over 25 years of video production and post-production experience who is currently using his award-winning skills in training editors to use Final Cut Studio. He is also the author of five books on Final Cut Studio, along with a monthly on-line newsletter...

The new Final Cut Pro is a bold move – a totally redesigned interface, 64-bit memory addressing, multi-processor support, tight integration of metadata in the project file with metadata stored in the clip not just in the project, heavy use of automation to simplify tedious tasks, and a rethinking of the entire concept of what it means to edit.

While I was following the premiere of the new Final Cut Pro X at the Las Vegas FCPUG Super Meet Up at NAB Tuesday night via Twitter (and posting some of the best tweets below), David Leitner, who is reporting for us from the conference, was in the room.

New FCP X is really Not So New

I am, like so many others, very pleased Apple finally revamped FCP - its a good solid, detailed release; more substantial than the last three versions put together - BUT.... please let us not delude ourselves that this release is anything other than Apple playing catch up after having been very off the ball for the past 4 years.

FCP X is shown to the world... Questions are asked

All the Final Cut Pro hype culminated tonight we some 1700 people filed into the Bally's Event center for the 2011 SuperMeet to get a sneak preview of the next Final Cut Pro. Once the people were seated and the music stopped we saw a slick presentation of a greatly redesigned application. New features abound but in the end I was left with a lot more questions than answers.

OK, so I'm not in Las Vegas, not at NAB, but thanks to the Interwebs, I'm able to stay tuned in to what's going on out there pretty much as much as I want. Tonight was the big 'ole Supermeet.

For years, Apple did not show up at NAB, the biggest show for film industry freaks in Las Vegas. This time they've decided to change everything... again.

FCP Almost Here

My Twitter timeline exploded today at 2PM NZST when Apple took the stage at the NAB Supermeet to announce something special. That something special was, unsurprisingly, FCP X. Needless to say it was well received, but after a flashy demo and thousnads of tweets, what do we know about the new FCP X?

Apple just gave a sneak preview of Final Cut Pro X at the NAB Supermeet. I was not there so thanks to everyone who tweeted and posted photos of the event.
