Listen up. Good post is good post. Bad post is bad post. I mention this as a reminder to everyone saying that the only way to make a 3D movie is in the camera, that the "problem" with some 3D movies is that the 3D was added in post. It shouldn't take a single second for you to remember that post, in itself, is not the problem. Quite the contrary. We can all name a dozen examples off the top of our heads where post was the only possible solution...

It’s very close to the Christmas holiday but my guess is there’s still a lot of shopping to be done. Editors need gifts too so I thought I’d put together this somewhat editor / edit suite specific list of a few items that might make an editor happy if they unwrapped them from under the tree. With that caveat you won’t see any software or downloadable products, which makes this list a bit difficult since so much of what we do is on the computer.

Avid to Cut Jobs, Close Some Facilities

In a recent 8K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Avid disclosed that it plans to restructure its operations during the first half of 2011 by eliminating positions "in lower growth geographies and markets," while reinvesting in "more strategic areas with greater opportunity for growth." Avid also said that it will be closing portions of certain office facilities as part of this process.
