To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Sonicfire Pro 5 with Premiere Pro CS5 Workflow Vid

Watch as I use real-world examples of how I work using SmartSound Sonicfire Pro 5 with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 in a broadcast bumper. The first video is an "over-the-shoulder" view of the production process with little explanation of why I’m choosing specific tools, but rather a fast-paced overview of just how simple it is to select and edit the music soundtrack to work with the various parts of the video; including voice over and interview clips.

With all of the Media Composer 5 news, it might be easy to miss Avid’s latest update for the flagship system, Avid DS. Version 10.3.1 (see addendum below), released in mid-July, is a small point release that introduced two huge features – improved stereoscopic 3D control and support for RED Digital Cinema’s new "color science" and the Mysterium-X sensor. The new RED capabilities are showcased in the "All Yours" music video by the band Metric.

Keeping Your Client Monitor in Sync

If you’re using an HD TV as a client monitor, you’re probably familiar with the dreaded "out-of-sync-on-the-big-screen" problem. This is the result of the fact that most consumer-level TVs introduce a video delay – the time it takes the TV’s video scaling hardware to do it’s job.

Catfish Editor Zachary Stuart-Pontier

http://www.btlnews.com/crafts/editing/btl-chats-me...

Catfish is one of the fall season’s "hot docs," erupting out of Sundance, earlier in the year, with its quite-now tale of trying to assemble a persona in an age where everybody has numerous public ones – nervously tended to on multiple devices (like, say, the iPhone on which you’re reading this) – but few private, or "interior" ones. Or "one." Assembling this story fell to editor Zachary Stuart-Pontier, and Below the Line caught up with him – virtually of course – as the film begins....
