To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

The Pros and Cons of Fast Scrub

http://splicehere.wordpress.com/2009/10/26/the-pro...

If you’re using Avid’s new DX hardware (Nitris or Mojo), then you’ve probably been using "Fast Scrub," perhaps without knowing it. This is a slick new feature that makes the timeline more responsive, by dramatically improving the number of frames displayed as you drag. Fast Scrub offers some of the smoothest timeline performance in the business —

Unofficial Avid Podcast

The Avid Screencast is a free podcast about showing you cool (and maybe sometimes not so cool) tricks that apply to pretty much all Avid editing platforms. Whether it’s shiny transitions, workflow improvements or just stuff that’s new and you hopefully didn’t know about before. I’m also thinking of doing a Avid 101 series, but let’s not get ahead.

I Love Lucy ...and Dann Cahn, too

Whether it was kismet or coincidence, my mother could never have anticipated that sitting me in front of an I Love Lucy re-run when I was 17 months old wasn’t just a distraction so she could prepare dinner. Mom rushed in when she heard "screeching" which turned out to be my chortles of delight at Lucy’s antics. She saw me laughing and quickly realized how to get dinner made for the next ten years. That evening, not only had my mother fostered another dedicated Lucy fan, she also inadvertentl...

Avid today announced that it will delay the filing of its Report on Form 10-Q for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009. The report will now be issued on November 16, 2009, rather than November 9. The delay is due to additional time required for the previously announced Audit Committee investigation relating to errors in the recognition of revenue from shipments near the end of fiscal quarters from certain warehouses outside of the United States.

In the early days of his career, Jason Stewart was like many people looking to break into film and television work. After graduating with a film degree from San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, he moved to Los Angeles and pretty much took the first job he was offered. It turned out to be a shrewd move.

I was on a small vacation last week with limited Internet access but the occasional check of the Twitters surprised me with this tweet about what may/may not be the next version of Final Cut Pro: that long rumored Super-duper Final Cut Pro Extreme Master Suite, remade from a blank slate...
