Remember the good old days, when you’d return home with a fresh Annette Hanshaw 78 to plunk down on the wind-up Victrola? You’d have the neighbors over for a listening party and a swell time was had by all around the punchbowl! Some among such excellent company danced the Lindy Hop, some sang along, and some did both — but everybody had fun. Alas, it wasn’t an experience that could be carried along for the morning subway commute or a Model T ride into the countryside.
