To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Distribute After Effects Layers With "Lazy" Script

August 11, 2017, 08:58 AM

http://theangryvideoguy.com/index.php/2017/08/11/r...

This Adobe After Effects script called Lazy from Perry Design is pretty cool in concept. You take your layers or keyframes, and using a bezier curve, distribute them along the curve automatically. This can add interesting variation to your animations and provides a quick way to do so.

Universal Audio 1.0 for After Effects Overview

July 10, 2017, 11:42 AM

http://theangryvideoguy.com/index.php/2017/07/10/r...

Universal Audio 1.0 is an After Effects script that will come in handy for those frequently working with voiceover tracks or animating to music. Normally when working with VO & Music in After Effects, you’re either jumping back & fourth between parent comps and nested precomps, lining up audio and placing markers. Universal Audio aims to fix that with three simple buttons.

Ouroboros 2 After Effects Script Review

June 13, 2017, 05:19 PM

http://theangryvideoguy.com/index.php/2017/06/13/f...

Ouroboros 2 is an updated free* plugin for after effects. The word Ouroboros refers to a Greek symbol that shows a dragon eating it’s own tail. Fun fact. The new version is faster via the script employing better using less expressions to drive the effect.

Stardust is a node based particle system generator currently in it’s early stages but looks promising. The big gun in particle generation in AE has pretty much been Particular, so I am enjoying learning an alternative. These 2 tutorials from Superluminal will get you started.

Review - Smart Selector for Adobe After Effects

May 18, 2017, 01:00 PM

This new plugin called Smart Selector claims to solve one of the age old issues with After Effects: selecting layers from the viewer. I take a look at how it works by using a few comps, and of course the point was to try and break it.

Obsessive Layers is a script from aescripts.com and at only $9.99 I’m going to tell you to buy it right now. It’s super simple, satisfying, and gives you even less excuses to hand off unorganized comps to the next artist.

Create Shape Layer Guides with GridGuide for AE

April 11, 2017, 09:00 AM

http://theangryvideoguy.com/index.php/2017/04/11/g...

It is a toolbox with what you need to quickly create custom grids and guides from shape layers. Being made from shape layers gives you the benefit of being able to transform the grid, scale, rotate, parent, and keyframe the grid itself.
