It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Back in 2005 Lacquer Software released a plug-in for Final Cut Pro through DV Garage called Conduit. It gave users a node -based interface for building complex effects from scratch. Development went silent for a short time, and now it is back as PixelConduit. Bigger and better than ever. It is not for everyone, but for those who need these sort of tools, it can be amazing.

If you’re a trailblazing user of FCPX, 10.0.6 or newer, you may have noticed a bug: rendering your project after using certain effects leads to random frame glitches. According to Aharon Rabinowitz of Red Giant Software, the problem lies with FCPX and Apple. While Apple is aware of the issue, there has been no information on any upcoming patches.

On this week's MacBreak Studio, which happens to be our 200th episode, I talk with Steve Martin from Ripple Training about how to change the default way that Final Cut Pro X interprets transparency, or the alpha channel, of a graphic or video.

(In Spanish) When it appeared the 10.0.6 update to Final Cut Pro X frotábamos we all hands, because among other improvements, was announced at last a second Viewer to display the images. Our joy was in a well when we discovered that the new Viewer only served to view pictures from the Event Browser, in fact his name is "Event Viewer".

Of all the questions I get each day, this is the most popular: “When will Final Cut Pro X be ready for professional use?” Sigh… Right now! Final Cut Pro X is ready for professional use today.

Hi folks - Lately we’ve been hearing from a lot of you about Magic Bullet Looks and Mojo not working properly in FCPX 10.0.6 and 10.0.7. There is a known bug that causes frame rendering errors for these 2 plug-ins in the current version of FCPX. While there is a workaround for users who have...

If you manipulate photographs, create graphics, or otherwise work with images, you’ve probably used Adobe Photoshop. And if you edit video, you’ve likely incorporated still images into your video projects.
