It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

This was a new feature introduced into Version 9 but it had been something Warren had been asking for and it allows you to view the whole timeline, copy and group grades together.

Ever since Blackmagic Design bought DaVinci Resolve and made it affordable and/or free, there’s been no shortage of training available to learn the application. While the You Tube videos are a dime a dozen, the fast forward FXPHD training has been one of the best options in the new Resolve’s relatively short life.

In this tutorial, Josh Petok shows you how to do sky replacements in DaVinci Resolve. In the past, this was a cumbersome task that either sent you into a compositing application or took several nodes to accomplish. With only 4 nodes, I'll show you how to add a new element into the sky of your shots. You'll be able to add sun, moon or clouds to your skies.

I'm no fashion guru, but I do remember that in 1987 women wore shoulder pads the size of a small country and men rolled up their jacket sleeves as if it was almost an anatomical necessity. And I spent hours trying to recreate Jan Hammer's synthesised guitar sound from the Miami Vice theme on my Korg keyboard.

First, I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who's been waiting so patiently. It's a tough balance between waiting for DaVinci to nail everything down so my lessons are as up-to-date as possible, and getting things started in time for Ripple to be able to add the kind of polish and organization that makes their titles something special.
