In the mid-2000s I sat in a theater and watched an awesome film called Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. It had the same ideas and design aesthetics of another great retro-futuristic film I loved called The Rocketeer, but cranked up to eleven. Sure, some of the dialogue was badly written and flatly delivered, but that actually added to the 1940′s serialized radio program feel to me.
