It's official: the iOS version of VLC has been yanked from the App Store. Though Apple didn't offer any reasons for its removal, the media player is believed to have been pulled thanks to a licensing dispute that started more than two months ago. The iOS version of VLC was not developed by VideoLAN, the nonprofit association that manages the project. Instead, it was created by a company named Applidium, which was able to get VideoLAN's blessing to develop and distribute the app for free.
